Membership Appointment

Falmouth Substance Abuse Commission consists of five members appointed by the Board of Selectmen to three-year terms.  According to the Town Charter, members may serve up to three consecutive three year terms.

The Director of Falmouth Human Services serves as an ex-officio member of the Commission.

Before or during your application process, it is suggested that you attend a Commission meeting and schedule an appointment with the Commission Chair and/or Falmouth Human Services Director to learn more about the Commission’s mission, work and the application process.

  • Send completed application and letter of interest to the Board of Selectmen (Click here for application), Falmouth Town Hall, 59 Town Hall Square, Falmouth, MA 02540
  • Selectmen will send a letter inviting you to appear before the Board of Selectmen at a Monday night meeting for an interview.  You will have the opportunity to describe your interest in the Substance Abuse Commission and how that interest might enhance the work of the Commission.
  • Board of Selectmen make determinations regarding potential appointees  and send a letter with the dates of the appointment term.
  • Appointee will then appear before the Town Clerk at Town Hall to be sworn in
