  • Kim Slade – 7:45am -8:00am, is the substance use prevention specialist for the Barnstable County Department of Human Services and Regional Substance Use Council, parterning with schools and communities acreoss Cape Cod to imp0lement evidence-based practices.  She has worked in the field for more than 10 years across three states.
  • Carmen Dwyer – 8:00am – 8:20am, a member of the Parents Supporting Parents support group, and Director of Operations of multiple Dunkin Donusts stores in Wareham.  She is a tireless advocate for families with loved ones who struggle with Substance Use Disorder and has helped many who are in active addiction seek treatment.  She has a son who has substance use disorder.
  • Attorney Matthew Schmitt – 8:20am – 8:45am, has practiced law in Bourne for 25 years.  Graduating from UMass Law School in Dartmouth in 1993, he has focused his practice on criminal defense.  Attorney Schmitt will touch on employer and employee rights relative to substance use disorder and foreseeable and unforeseeable risks to the employer.  What are the basics that should be done to protect an employer and to make sure employees with substance use disorders are attended to professionally by the employer?
  • Dan Serpico – 8:45am -9:15am, is CEO and President of Fusionstorm, an award winning IT solution provider headquartered in San Francisco.  Mr. Serpico, a Holliston, MA and Cape Cod resident, holds a BS in Business Adminstration with Honors from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.  Dan will discuss the “cost” of substance use disorder to corporate America and how Fusionstom tackled the disease head on.
  • Narcan training – 9:15am – 9:45am, Donna Mello, a native Cape Codder, has been at ASGCC for 18 years.  She and her team have trained more than 2,500 individuals at community events across the Cape.  Donna will discuss the following topics:  What is an overdose? How NARCAN works and its efficacy? Heroin deaths are declining in the Commonwealth while Fentanyl is increasing.  Rescue breathing and NARCAN.  Where to obtain NARCAN?
