Independenc House is pleased to offer these new groups beginning January 2019:

  • LGBTQ+ Domestic Violence Support Group – Fridays, 10am (Beginning January 25, 2019) in the Hyannis Office, 160 Bassett Lane, Hyannis. To register for this FREE support group, please contact Merrill at: 508-771-6507 x237 or [email protected] This group is free and confidential. Weekly discussion topics and readings are offered, however group content is ultimately participant-directed. This group is a safe and supportive place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex survivors of emotional, physical, financial and sexual abuse.
  • Support Group for Survivors of Sexual Violence – Mondays, 6-7pm from January 28 – March 4, 2019 in the Falmouth Office, 220 Main Street, Suite #200 (2nd floor) Falmouth. To register for this FREE support group, contact: Tara at 508-771-6507, [email protected] or Kate 508-771-6507 x250 [email protected] This group provides a safe space for female adults who have been affected by sexual violence at any age. The group combines creative and relaxing activities allowing survivors to share their thoughts and feelings. Education and information is shared during the group, as well as, safe coping skills that can be easily utilized outside the group.
  • Healthy Relationship Support Group – Thursdays, 2-3pm. Beginning January 24, 2019 (6 weeks) in the Hyannis office, 160 Bassett Lane, Hyannis. To register for this FREE support group, contact: Sarah at 508-771-6507 x245 or [email protected], or Tammaine at 508-771-6507 x247 or [email protected] This group is a free 6-week series for adults to talk about healthy and un-healthy relationships. Key topics in the group will include: Healthy and un-healthy relationships, communication styles, boundaries, warning signs and self esteem.
  • Seeking Safety Group – Thursdays, 3-4pm beginning February 7, 2019 in the Hyannis Office, 160 Bassettt Lane, Hyannis. To register for this FREE support group, contact: Liz at 508-771-6507 x236. This group is designed for people with substance abuse and trauma. The meetings will consists of integrated treatments taken from Seeking Safety: A treatment manual for PTSD & Substance Abuse, developed by Lisa M. Najavits. These integrated treatments (trauma and substance abuse) are worked on at the same time to promote the most successful recovery possible.
